Rocket Launcher - A powerful rocket launcher that could launch multiple rockets at a time all with highly destructive capabilities.Boxing Glove - A cartoon-style gag weapon.Blaster Cannon - An explosive cannon blast capable of breaking through concrete walls. The suit itself was bullet proof and the groin cannon had the following tools/weapons: Equipment & WeaponsĬodpiece utilizes a power-suit with a massive groin-cannon. Powers & AbilitiesĬodpiece has no actual super-powers but is a skilled engineer as he was able to design his multi-functioning power suit & groin cannon. Codpiece is finally stopped when Coagula arrives and uses her melting-touch to destroy his groin-cannon, thus saving the day. Their intervention fails to stop Codpiece and instead causes him to become even more destructive and aggressive. This catches the attention of George and Marion - new members of the Doom Patrol. Succumbing to pride, Codpiece doesn't flee the scene and instead begins to terrorize the city. When attacked by the police he responds with a variety of weapons such as a boxing-glove, an ultra-sound emitter, and a rocker launcher, all stemming from his massive groin-cannon. Major Story Arcs The Laughing GameĬodpiece begins his villainous rampage by breaking into a high-profile bank, using his power-suit and it's various tools. The result was Codpiece creating a power-suit and beginning a criminal spree under his new name - Codpiece! CreationĬodpiece was created by Rachel Pollack and first appeared in Doom Patrol #70 - The Laughing Game. Codpiece finally 'snapped' when he hired a prostitute and she suggested he 'wear something' to pad the area up. He attempted to find a doctor to do some surgery, but ran away from that after misinterpreting the Doctor's concerns and advice as insults. This insecurity followed him throughout his adult life, resurfacing each and every time he was denied or declined by a girl in any sort of romantic sense. Her reasoning was due to his height, claiming he wasn't big enough, but Codpiece believed this to be an insult to his genitals. Whatever his ultimate origins, it cannot be denied that a bold choice has been made in teaming Cyborg with the Doom Patrol.Codpiece began as an insecure high school student, whom, when asking an attractive, popular girl out on a date, was denied. Niles Caulder will have a role in saving his life. It is also unclear if the new series will be based more on the original Wolfman/Perez origin for Cyborg or if it will draw upon the 2011 reboot in the Justice League comics, where Victor's implants were created by the technology of the New Gods (an idea used in Justice League). It remains to be seen how closely Victor Stone's background in the new DC Universe series will stick to the comics and if Dr. Viewers who might not give Doom Patrol a second glance due to their unfamiliarity with the source material might be attracted to it based on their recognition of Cyborg from other DC Comics' productions. While Doom Patrol is one of DC Comics' more persistent properties, it is also one of its weirdest, even ignoring characters such as Crazy Jane and Danny The Street. Beyond the thematic connections, Cyborg's induction into the Doom Patrol will also serve to attract casual comics fans to the new series and offer them an accessible frame of reference.
